About Me

Helping people and businesses get to the heart of the matter.

My Training & Background

I’ve always had a passion for value-driven business, and thanks to my Mother who was a social worker, I was primed early on to think about how I could best serve my community. This view of the world turned into my lifelong journey of study and exploration into the intersection of business, social values, human motivation, and interpersonal communication.

My career began in the natural foods industry, but I eventually shifted to the nonprofit sector where I found a deeper sense of purpose. I’ve managed hunger relief agencies, multi-service centers, grocery stores, and low-income housing organizations, but it was my experience running the Dispute Resolution Center of King County (DRC) that inspired my study of the underlying motivations that drive our actions.

The years I spent directing organizations gave me solid business skills in these areas:

  • Strategic and operational planning
  • Conflict resolution and individual coaching
  • Program development and outcome assessment
  • Organizational development and infrastructure design
  • Training and curriculum design
  •  Process and group facilitation
  • Local, state and national program collaboration
  • Budgeting and financial management
  • Board and employee development

Besides business expertise, I also developed an understanding of the systemic roots at the center of our social challenges.  As a dedicated systems thinker (and mediator), I can see what’s at the heart of the matter and how to move things forward.

Along the way I’ve gathered some great tools and expertise from my unique education in Applied Behavioral Science, and from systems I’ve studied, such as Facilitative Mediation, Trauma Informed Care, Nonviolent Communication, Conflict Coaching, Context Training, Restorative Circles, Crucial Conversations®, Myers Briggs Type Indicator©, Appreciative Inquiry, and Compassionate Listening.

I became a consultant so I could do the work I liked best, and the work I’m best at – helping businesses and people get organized, build their skills, understand each other, and use practical tools to change the world.
